I%26#039;m 12 and i have really yellow teeth. it%26#039;s embarresing to laugh so when i do i cover my teeth with my upper lip, tonge or hand. i%26#039;ve been asked why i do that and i try to change the subject real fast. i brush my teeth twice a day, so i think their %26#039;naturally yellow%26#039; my dentist says i cant use whitening strips cause im to young. but i cant cover my teeth forever, so how do i whiten my teeth???

Yellow teeth at 12?
Yeah, don%26#039;t use whitening strips and other evil products, they will give you mouth cancer eventually, man. Peroxide is the main ingredient in those, good for your kitchen counter, laundry, and around your toilet, but not really for your mouth. Also, when you stop using them, your teeth will become yellow again. Try to get a titanium-oxide rod toothbrush with a natural polishing paste. Titanium-oxide reacts with UV rays (from the sun or light bulb) and it has a sterilizing effect and will help kill the bacteria which causes yellowing. Just keep the brush in the sunlight before brushing. Or perhaps some baking soda and sea salt. Remember, your enamel is very thin, so don%26#039;t go crazy polishing away every day for a year with polishing substances (main ingredient in most whitening pastes), you will damage your teeth.

Avoid fluoride toothpaste and fluoride in general, it’s very bad for teeth; no matter what anyone says – it’s poisonous (do your own research). It’s a by product of the aluminium industry and has been used for cockroach powder and rat poison; now it’s in toothpaste – crazy stuff. They seem to work well for me. Oh, and no, your teeth are not supposed to be bleach white in colour. Very yellow? -- perhaps it%26#039;s something you eat? Something staining. Well, of course avoid candy, junk food, and all that kind of stuff; teeth are part of your body and thus part of your lifestyle and diet too. Teeth are just like any other part of your body, you can repair them by eating generally healthier food; you know, more green leafy vegetables and fresh fruit etc.

For me, I had braces for many years, and I could not clean my teeth properly no matter how I tried, and they got yellow, especially on the side teeth -- and the yellow never goes completely away. So, try some natural toothpastes and see which works best for you. You can even do some research to see what native peoples around the world use to clean their teeth, such as people in parts of India use the neem tree. They just break a stick off and rub their teeth with it, and their teeth look great. You can even buy neem toothpaste, but of course it’s not the same as the actual stick.

Hey in the end, you can present an essay project for a class at school on mouth and tooth care.
Reply:oh - poor you ! Is it from antibiotics when you were younger - or too much coca cola/pepsi etc !

Anyway - how many teeth are still milk teeth ? Try changing your diet now so the adult teeth grow in whiter. If adult teeth, gotta wait I guess !
Reply:cut out the cokes and start drinking only water. And they have colgate total whitening toothpaste. I tried it and it works.
Reply:I%26#039;m 12 also and i just dont smile. Yeah..I know depressing huh...It runs in the family to have naturally yellow teeth and it bugs the heck outta me when people point it out. I brush a lot, use floride, and their yellow. Note:YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I%26#039;d use healthy dental habits and try teeth whitning gum while your in class?
Reply:i would start by brushing your teeth normally then make a baking soda paste (50% water 50% baking soda) and brushing with that it tastes horrible and its not a good idea to swallow it but it helps and then rinse very well and then brush with a wet toothbrush (no toothpaste or baking soda) hope this helps whenever your baby teeth fall out is when you can start using whitining products
Reply:There are things you can do to get rid of the yellowness. Use whitening toothpaste. Eliminate foods and drinks that stain teeth (coffee, soda, etc.) Did your dentist have any treatments that are safe at your age? Talk to your parents and see if they can pay for such a treatment.

Another thing, your teeth may not look as bad as you think.
Reply:do u smoke?!?! (JK)

Try switchin ur toothbrush.... or ask ur dentist how can u make ur teeth white... and try usin toothpaste that is expensive and recommended to make ur teeth White..
Reply:I would talk to your dentist again and discuss your options. Also ask to talk to the dental hygienist, they may be able to figure out where this yellowing is coming from.

You can also brush your teeth with baking soda, found in the supermarket baking section. It is safe to use at your age, cleans teeth up real nice and used along with your regular toothpaste can make a big difference to the colour of your teeth.

Good luck! I know what it%26#039;s like to be ashamed of your teeth, and I hope you find a solution that works for you soon.
Reply:WHAT DOES THIS DENTIST WANT YOU TO DO, KEEP YOUR YELLOW TEETH? I KNOW THERE ARE CERTAIN PROCEDURES THAT CAN BE DONE BY THE DENTITST TO BRIGHTREN YOUR SMILE THAT DAY.
